Dubuque street in 20 minutes. In the 1960’s, the U of Iowa in Iowa City was reknown for slug bugs, hippies and strange cigarettes.

The Iowa slug bug rules were similar in the 60’s. But the slug was null and void unless one shouted “SLUG BUG (insert color here)”. Vans did not count since they were , after all, not a real bug.

Ahh, a week in KC winter. Last millenium (circa 1981?), MLS and moi went to KC in January. With supplies from “Bag ‘n Save” in Overland Park, we snuck the groceries up the back stairs of The Raphael and held up there ’til the roads got cleared. Came back to the Chevy stationwagon to find the windshield and dashboard cracked from the extreme cold. In Iowa, Grandma and Grandpa Burr stayed with Chris in Harlan - Grandpa had to WALK to Super Value for munchies as streets there were snowed packed. Oh, Grandpa also taught eight year old Chris how to play dice. Oh, that wacky Grandpa.
